Looking for some spooky filters for your Halloween Images? Well, then you’ve come to the right place! Here, we’re going to list out a couple of different programs that you can use to make your photos better with Halloween Photo Effects! Curious? Then give it a scroll! We included a step-by-step guide for each program so that you don’t get lost. Check it out and see how it works for you!
For our first program, we’re going to be demonstrating a product called Fotophire Editing Toolkit! This is a set of different graphics editors that you can use to clean up your image and make them anew! They offer a FREE trial on their website, so if you want to follow along with our demo, then give it a try!
This is what the program will look like once it is launched (refer to the image below.) Just click on the Photo Editor box furthest to the left of the screen and wait to be moved to welcome hub.
To download the FREE trial, click the URL down below.

Next! Let’s open and import the image into the Photo Editor. Doing this is pretty easy, just click on the Open… text (furthest to the left) and pick out the image that you want to add Halloween Photo Effects to!
With the Fotophire Photo Editor, everything is organized. So, not only will you be getting hundreds of preset effects, you’ll also be getting them in a way that’s easy to keep track of! That way, you can apply them as needed! To access the Filters, click on the Effects tab (highlighted in the image below.) The right-hand side of the screen will change, and you’ll be able to choose from all their available filters!
To give our image that Halloween-like effect, we decided to choose the “Scratched” filter. As you can see, the original image changed drastically (in only one click!) The blurred out edges and the natural-looking scratches made the image look aged and dramatic!
There are a couple of other things that you can try out (like adding textures, light leaks, frames, text, etc.) However, we’ll be ending our demo here. Just remember to save your image before exiting the Window! To do this, click on the Save icon on the top toolbar.
Next up, let’s look into a Mac alternative! True to its descriptor, the Movavi Photo Editor is a program that is compatible with the Mac OS! It’s actually not all that different from the Fotophire Editing Toolkit. Although, they focused more on stuffing everything in one place (which makes it just slightly harder to get used to.) Still, it’s a pretty good program, and you should have no problem applying Halloween Photo Effects with it!
The first thing to do, is to download the Movavi Photo Editor. This can be done on their website! The installation and download process might take a couple of minutes (or up to an hour), depending on how slow your internet and computer is!
To download, Mac OS X 10.7 or higher (compatibility), click the URL down below.

Time to import your image into the program! For Movavi, there are two different ways that you can do this. You can either Drag and Drop your image file onto the screen or click on the Browse for Images option!
Much like with the Fotophire Demo, we’re going to be focusing on the Effects tab here too! This is where the keep their filters (which will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen.)
The filter that we decided to apply, was their “Lomo” filter, which was under their Popular category. As you can see, it change the overall feeling of the image (giving it that Halloween vibe.
Feel free to add or edit the program in whatever other way you see fit. However, remember to save before exiting the window. To do this, click on the Save button on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen!
The next product that we’re going to be introducing is not like the rest! For this how to add Halloween photo effects tutorial, we’re going to be using the Adobe Photoshop Express App! Because, unlike the original Photoshop, this one actually has preset filters that you can use! These filters (like the ones previously demonstrated) can be applied in one-click! Learn more down below.
The steps for using this application is fairly simple. We managed to condense it all down to three steps in total! To start, you need to download the app! This app can be used on both iOS and Android devices!

The filter that we applied on our demo, is the “Fake” filter. As you can see (in the image down below), adding this filter exaggerated the colors and contrasted it with the overly dark background (make it a perfect filter for Halloween!)
There are two ways that you can save your image. Either click on the Share icon, in which case, you’ll be brought to the screen down below where you can choose the Save to Gallery option. OR you can press the back arrow and save it from there.
As you can see, getting Halloween Photo Effects to make your photos better isn’t all that hard! There are many ways that you can use to get the same (or at least similar) results. Of course, if you want our recommendation as to the program to try, then it would definitely be the Fotophire Photo Editing Toolkit! All in all, it just offers the most variety and stability, making it the most helpful choice.
