Part 1. Easiest Way to Add Snapchat Filters to Pictures

The first method that we’re going to be introducing, is the PC method. For this, we’re going to be demonstrating the process using a program called the Fotophire Editing Toolkit. It is a computer program that one can use for basic photo editing and more! With one of the main features being the hundreds of presets that you can use to apply filters to your pictures. There’s a wide range of filters here, so you definitely won’t go wanting for more!

How to Add Snapchat Filters to Pictures with Fotophire Editing Toolkit

Step 1: Photo Editor

Once launched, the Fotophire Editing Toolkit will look a little bit like this. As you can see, there are a couple of different types of photo editors included in this set. The main three being:

• Photo Editor: To add preset effects on your image — allows for basic decorative editing.
• Photo Cutter: Remove unwanted parts of an image using the crop or trim tools.
• Photo Eraser: Remove unwanted objects in an image using the eraser tools.

The editor that we’re going to be using for this demonstration, is the "Photo Editor". To launch the photo editor, double-click the box marked as such and wait for a couple of seconds for it to load!

Step 2: Open...

In order to start adding filters onto your images, please click on the Open… text option on the left-hand side of the screen. Doing this will open up a Mac or Windows pop up where you can locate and choose the image of choice.

Step 3: Effects

This is what the photo editor of Fotophire looks like. There are several tabs that you can use (on the right-hand side of the screen.) In order to add filters on your image, make sure that you’re on the "Effects" tab (highlighted blue in the image below.)

Step 4: Popular

There are different editors under the effects tab. The one that we applied is called “Happiness” and is under the “Popular” category. Of course, there are more filters that you can use and apply!

Step 5: Save...

That’s really all there is to it! Of course, if you want to edit your image further you can certainly do so. Just remember to save your image before exiting the window. This can be done by clicking on the Save… icon on the top of the menu screen.

Part 2. How to Add Snapchat Filters to Pictures on Mac Computer

The next demonstration will be a Mac alternative. This time, we’re going to be using a program called the Movavi Photo Editor 5. It’s a part of a set (although a set that is different from the Fotophire Editor we discussed previously) of other editors under the same company. Much like the Fotophire photo editor, there’s also a way of using Movavi to add Snapchat like filters to your images. We’re going to be showing you down below just how you can do just that!

Step 1: Download the Mac Version

Much like the Fotophire Editing Toolkit, this is available in both Windows and Mac. So, make sure that you download the correct version. For Mac, Movavi is compatible in Mac OS X 10.7 or higher! They also offer a FREE trial version on their website (much like Fotophire), so you can try it out for a time before paying.

Step 2: Upload Image

The next part with require that you import the image into Movavi. There are two ways of doing this. Either you drag and drop the image onto the area specified OR click on the green Browse for Images button in the middle of the screen.

Step 3: Effects

There are also different tabs that available on the Movavi editor. The one that we’re going to be using is the Effects tab. The available filters can be shown on the right-hand side of the screen.

Step 4: Stars and lights

To apply the filter, all you have to do is click on the preview boxes shown on the right-hand side of the screen. You can change the opacity of the filter using the sliders available in the bottom of the preview and finalize the change using the checkmark shown below.

Step 5: Save

Feel free to edit the image more if need be. Just make sure that you save before exiting the window. This can be done by clicking on the Save button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.

Part 3. How to Add Snapchat Filters to Pictures with Mobile App

The next demonstration will be on a mobile device! This time, the program that we’re going to be using is an app called the Adobe Photoshop Express: Photo Editor Collage Maker. Much like the editors we discussed previously, this has presets that you can apply with a single click! That means, that the application of said effects is fairly simple. We’ll be showing you just how to do it in the demonstration through the step-by-step process we laid out down below.

Step 1: Install!

To start, make sure that you have the correct app installed. To do so, search the name Adobe Photoshop Express on the usual iOS and Android stores OR click the URL down below to download it for your iOS device.

Step 2: Filters

As mentioned, much like the others, this has presets that you can use. The editor will look a bit like this (refer to the image below), with the filters previewed on the bottom quarter of the screen. Applying a filter is as easy as clicking on the preview box and adjusting the effect with the slider that pops up on the screen!

Step 3: Charm16

The filter that we applied is “Charm16” and as you can see, there is a slider that shows up on the bottom of the screen. Move the slider to the right and you’ll get a stronger effect, move it to the left and you’ll get a decreased effect.

Step 4: Share

In order to save or share your image, click on the Share icon on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Doing this will move you to a brand new screen — which you will see in the next step.

Step 5: Save or Share

There are several ways that you can save or share your image. As you can see, clicking the share icon will bring you here, where you can see a couple of different options. Use the Save to Gallery option to save the image into your phone’s gallery. As for sharing your image on social media, you can do so by clicking on the available social media icons.

As you can see, there are many different programs and applications that you can use to add Snapchat-like filters to your images! The three programs we introduced here are mainly intuitive, but you should be aware that other photo editors are not as easy-to-use. For example, the actual Photoshop CC (for desktop) will require that you make the effort to actually design or personally add effects to your image. No one has time for that!
